I’m Maren, an aspiring author and filmmaker. I believe that storytelling is one of the most powerful planetary forces.
Storytelling is what makes us human, and we discount its power at our own peril.
Right now, the world needs a lot of new stories.
As an aspiring novelist myself, I wanted to offer my critique services to writers as a way to help fund the publication of my own story while providing valuable suggestions, insight, and constructive feedback to other creatives.
The goal here is reciprocity.

I spent years believing that I wasn’t cut out to be a proper storyteller, when in reality, I just hadn’t learned enough about storytelling and why it matters.

GENRE:
I’m open to most genres, but I’m probably not the best fit for religious fiction, contemporary romance, hard sci-fi, and poetry. Non-fiction will be considered on a case-by-case basis!
GEN-AI:
I am a big hater of generative AI. I am only interested in working on human-authored works. If AI has been used to alter your manuscript, I’m probably not the right fit to critique it. I will never use AI in my critiques.
TIMELINE:
Critiques will be completed within 10 days of your start date.
PAYMENT:
I accept payments through Venmo and PayPal.
CANCELLATIONS:
Please give at least one month notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

I am not a professional editor, but a writer with a solid grasp on storytelling mechanics, structure, and character development. In spite of my lack of official credentials, I feel confident that I’ll be able to give you detailed, actionable feedback that will improve your manuscript. My prices reflect my inexperience.
